Evangelical Lutheran Church of Sierra Leone
Founded
in 1988 by native Sierra Leoneans, the Evangelical Lutheran
Church in Sierra Leone (ELCSL) promotes social justice through
education of both adults and children. The Women's
Vocational and Literacy Program is conducted at the ELCSL's
St. Mark's Community Center in Freetown.
The community center is also home to the Calaba Town Clinic.
These programs are available to all members of the community
regardless of religion or tribal origin.
Water to Thrive
Water to Thrive envisions is of a world where we share our abundance to provide health, hope, and water to all. Many problems are linked to a lack of access to clean water. Drinking water contaminated with bacteria and parasites can lead to serious illness and even death. The time it takes to haul water is time that women are away from their families and children cannot attend school. The IDEA Foundation is proud to partner with Water to Thrive in our Clean Water Program.
Heifer Project International
Established in response to the Spanish Civil war, Heifer has 60 years
of experience alleviating hunger and poverty through education and “no-interest
living loans” in the form of livestock. IDEA Foundation is a sponsor
of Heifer in Sierra Leone.
